Why you get scam and spam calls

That scam call or phishing email did not find you by accident.

Your number and email are often shared and sold between companies. That is how strangers get them. Here is what we do for you.

Your details are everywhere

Every bank, app and shop you signed up for may still hold your number, email and address.

The DPDP Act 2023 gives you the right to know what a company holds about you, to have it erased, and to complain if it ignores you. The Act is being implemented in stages. We put your request on record now, so no company can say you never asked. When each part starts

Questions people ask first

Is this legal in India?
Yes. The DPDP Act 2023 gives you the right to ask a company to delete your personal data. The Act is being implemented in stages. What we do today: find the companies that may hold your data, send a formal deletion request in your name, follow up, and show you every reply.
What can you actually do for me right now?
Four things. We find out which companies are likely to hold your number. We find the right address to write to at each one. We send a polite, properly worded request asking them to delete your details. And we show you every reply, with the date. You can do all of this yourself for free — what you are paying for is not having to.
Can I get my number off Truecaller or JustDial?
Often, yes. Most of these companies have their own unlisting or privacy form. Using it directly is usually the fastest way, and we will tell you when that is true rather than keep you waiting. Where we can write on your behalf, we do, and we pass on the answer.
What is a data broker?
A company whose business is collecting personal information and selling access to it. Some are open about it and advertise marketing lists. Others collect your details for one reason and pass them on as a side line. Most people have never heard of the ones holding their number. That is the whole problem: you cannot ask a company to stop if you do not know its name. Finding out the names is most of what a scan is for.
